Fun From October

Oh Tuesday, how I love you for NOT being Monday! Sorry for my erratic posting of late – I have been running around like a headless chicken and trying to fill all my time with socializing so that this damn dark season we are having doesn’t depress me too much!

Me trying to smile – all the while thinking “Why the frick did I get sorbet in this cold cold weather”. Most agrees (below)

Despite a HIGHLY depressing day yesterday – purely due to the veritable lack of sunshine – the evening was a bundle of laughs. If you haven’t seen Aziz Ansari’s latest stand up then you should get on that. I laughed for the whole thing – and when I say laughed I mean heartily! I also did a work out video – I know it’s a standard cliche, but exercise and laughter are really the key to not getting the winter blues. That and the oh so close christmas markets in Berlin with their heavenly Glühwein… I can almost taste that divine spicy flavour! NOICE.

Rum and chocolate bundt cake | Sugar Thumb

So, this isn’t a recipe post, it is more of a round up of food and fun I have been enjoying this month – not sure if that is at all interesting to anyone! haaaa. But have no fear a sumptuously delicious recipe is coming over the next few days! Above is a very quick rum and chocolate bundt cake I made. But literally had no nice setting to shoot it in, and wasn’t that happy with the photos, but still sharing is caring. I just used a very basic vanilla sponge recipe and added a couple of tbsp of rum and some chocolate chips.

Chocolate, Jam and Coconut Scrunches | Sugar Thumb

These are my chocolate, jam and coconut “scrunches” – I had some left over shortcrust pastry so I just put nutella, coconut and jam in the middle, scrunched them up very inelegantly and baked them for about 10 mins in a preheated oven at 180°C. Easy as pie!

Speaking of pie – To any British readers – firstly Happy Bonfire Night! AND if you are missing the good old British Pie in Berlin, the Pieoneers are having a delicious pie event this Thursday at Das Gift in Neukölln. I am certainly going to be heading down for a scrumptious range of meaty pies!

Have a great week and I will be back with a deliciously rum BANANA dessert… I know… I LOVE RUM!
